The following is a guest post from Sarah at Falk Family Fun! **Rachel's thoughts: While there is certainly disagreement in...
My husband has been using this in his smoothie each morning. he is dropping the weight like crazy.
it works to absorb odors, it’s good in the house to kill fleas too.
DE is a great natural pest control for the home, we sprinkle it outside and inside and have had great success!
Check out Animal Element it has this and other great things in it with no fillers…. We take it ourselves and give it to our horses and dogs… If you want to know more about it let me or my daughter January Elrod know. She is a dealer but only because we used it and it worked for many issues.
@Jennifer, when you say sprinkle, how much would you say you use outside? We have a chihuahua and are expecting a baby and I’d love to try this outside for our scorpion issue, instead of spraying all the time.
I’d like to know if it’s safe for my little dog too. We find scorpions on our block wall, and are trying to find something that won’t hurt him.
@Kassie – I would think that if you got the food grade that it would be safe for you dog to ingest. You can even give it to them in their food to help get rid of worms!
thanks 🙂 We are also trying to get rid of all the crickets (he eats them, gross i know, but he’s a puppy!)
Would worms be heart worms?
@Kassie, we purchase the food grade, it is completely safe for children and animals. It does basically the same thing as the pool chemical DE, but much safer. Sorry I didn’t notice this earlier.
awesome! thanks so much ladies!!
I had no idea what this was until you posted this! Thanks for the info!
Make sure you only get Food Grade if you have pets
DE is great. I don’t understand why more people don’t use it. They look at me like I am crazy. I used DE for fleas when we adopted a stray cat. The fleas were gone in a week!!
Ants.
Ummm…I’m guessing they r talking about intestinal worms.
PLEASE make sure you are using the FOOD grade De…If it does NOT say food grade, it will harm your pets…I had a salesman tell me the stuff in the yellow bag is food grade and he IS WRONG!!
WHen I first saw the DE my first thought was “isn’t that used as a filter in some types of pools”. Glad to see someone else post that. Haven’t heard about the use for pests but find it interesting. Will have to keep this in mind for our annual ant problem next year. Can you the food grade for your animal and pests? I would think the food grade wouldn’t be useful for pests as I would think the particles wouldn’t be sharp.
@Nancy, I did some research on it and I don’t think DE is recommended for use as a heartworm preventative. 🙁
Thanks for all your comments, everyone!
My mother used this when I was growing up, but we have had ZERO luck using it for fleas.
You can find the food grade at feed stores…it normally is sold in 50 lb bags (at least in MO)
