I am so excited that you are visiting Surviving The Stores!
My name is Rachel and I was born and raised here in Texas. I love it here and I truly cannot imagine living anywhere else (although I sometimes wish the weather was a little less quirky). I am married to an amazing man and we have three little ones (so far).
I began Surviving The Stores in September 2008 as a way to keep myself accountable in grocery budgeting. I was not raised in a couponing family, so the whole couponing world was very new to me. I mistakenly thought that people who used coupons ended up paying more for items than those who bought the off brands.
After getting the hang of it and saving us literally THOUSANDS of dollars I thought that maybe my experiences and finds could be helpful to others. With the economic times as they are, more and more people are trying to cut back and figure out ways to “Survive The Stores.” I am here to help!
I post the weekly deals and coupon match-ups for Kroger, Albertsons, and Tom Thumb in the Texas area. I also post the weekly deals and coupon match-ups for CVS and Walgreens (the ads tend to be the same across America).
Although there tends to be multiple posts each day here at Surviving The Stores, these are some of the ones that come around each week:
Menu Plan Monday – We have saved SOO much money by me just sitting down once a week and planning out what we will be having. I provide links to the recipes that I use as well as reviews of some of the recipes that we have had previously
Survival Tip Tuesday – what are my store “survival tips” for the week?
Grocery store coupon match-ups
CVS and Walgreens weekly deals posted
Fun Friday Freebies! – Each week I post a list of all of the freebies that I have found online the previous week. I have gotten lots of really neat stuff for free including DVDs, TONS of magazines and food!
Super Savings Saturday – What did I find at my local stores and how much did I spend?
If you are already a blog reader, I recommend adding Surviving The Stores to your blog reader (such as google reader) so that you don’t miss out on any great deals! You can also subscribe to Surviving The Stores through email and you will get an email at the end of each day with the posts for that day.

Thanks for all the work you put into your blog.. I have it in my blog feed.. so I see new posts immediately! I enjpy all your great tips, and have saved so much $$ in the 2 short months I have been couponing and learing the Walgreens and CVS shopping methods. I have enough “free/almost free” toothpaste in just 2 months of shopping to last a year! LOL!! Looking forward to reading even more!

An incredible site, excellently communicated, and perfectly timed! I couldn’t think of a more relevant resource for families who are trying to save money in this uncertain economy. Bless you!!

Heard your husband tout this site this morning on Tom Traddup’s show on KSKY. Awesome site, Rachel. I passed it on to my 2 young, stay-at-home mom daughters, who need every break they can get as they seek to live responsibly while bailing out those who don’t. 🙂 Thanks so much. God bless you and your family!

Hey Rachel,
I found a way to make static, stand alone, pages in Blogger like WordPress. It was super easy..took seconds, if you are interested.
I did it on my About page, Contact Page, etc, etc.
