Hi, putting epsom salt in your bathwater is one of the best possibilities to detox your body and to relieve sore muscles or just to relax your body. My favorite Epsom Salt is REV, which you can easily get at every CVS.

Great idea. I love this!

I buy loads of peroxide – it is great for pet stains on carpet. I know, sounds weird, but we have an older dog who is now pee’ing occasionally on the carpet & it not only removes any stain, but smell as well. I just pour straight from the bottle & blot w/towel or paper towels.
It’s amazing how much dirt/grime it also removes and I have had no problems with it taking out color from the carpets, but I would test spot to be sure.

Curios to try this. Thank you for sharing this info to your readers like me.
salt and vinegar also works great and if you happen to have fresh ginger grate that in there. Every time I start to feel like i am coming down with something I do this and it knocks it right out.
Now, what purpose does the hydrogen peroxide serve exactly? I’m a biochem student and hydrogen peroxide is pretty much considered a toxin in my book, granted we tend to use higher concentrations in lab but down to the cellular level that stuff is no joke (we’ve got organelles that specifically isolate reactions in our cells to prevent hydrogen peroxide from having contact with other parts) hahahahaha I mean we can freaking use that stuff to launch rockets! So, basically why is this used to detoxify….also in a hot bath would it decomposition and basically you’re buying a bottle of this stuff for it to break down into water and oxygen because of the heat?
I feel this is worth looking at since you’re wasting you’re money if this stuff will break down as you’re bathing, thus not actually doing anything so you could save a good $2!
I shall try to do a follow up after gathering some data on the decomp of h-peroxide…..unless we’ve got any chemists around here would would know already!

Now, I understand this is not a 100% valid way to prove info, but this particular yahoo answer was insightful. (I actually do not have the time whatsoever to try and test this myself or spend time searching for articles in databases)
So, I still question what the h-peroxide’s purpose is. I mean a doctor recommended this? I’d love an explanation of how this works, because right now I feel that buying H-peroxide for this purpose may be wasting money…. on another note Epsom salt is great for a soak!

So…. How do you feel after this bath? Are you weak? Do you drink lots of extra water? I use half a bottle of peroxide every now and again, but I’m interested in this!

taking a shower after an epsom salt bath is not recommended as it voids all the benefits by counteracting with the magnesium.
Anonymoussays
The magnesium is already absorbed by the time you take the shower.
I have never heard of baking soda for removal of chlorine, are you sure that’s correct? It’s otherwise good for the skin, yes, and it can remove discoloration caused by chlorine, but I don’t think it actually does anything about the presence of chlorine itself.
Everything I know of points to vitamin C powder, which WILL chemically neutralize the chlorine present in your bathwater.

Don’t get your hair the peroxide because it will turn it red if it is dark and bleach it out!!!!
I love to sit in a good detox bath. I use the Epsom salt and baking soda combo. I also add 2-3 teaspoons of ground ginger to my mix. Ginger has pain relief and anti-inflammatory properties. As a dancer and instructor, my muscles ache the closer we get to a performance (as we are now), the ginger definitely helps my aches and pains. Ginger also promotes sweating, as well as having a plethora of health benefits. I have definitely had some great results with this detox bath:
1/3 cup Epsom salt
1/3 cup sea salt
1/3 cup baking soda
2-3 teaspoons ground ginger
I usually soak for 20-30 minutes, and sweat long after I’ve rinsed off and gone to bed, but I always wake up feeling wonderful!

thanks so much for stating the obvious for those people who just don’t get it. I am 60 y.o. And do not take any medication. I was diagnosed w RA about 10 years ago and after taking the medication for 5 years I got fed up. Long story short food is medicine
