This looks good and easy. Thanks.
I was always taught to make dumplings with baking powder…helps them rise.
This is how my Great-Grandma taught my mom who taught me
Shoebee:
I haven’t tried them with baking powder. I guess every family has a different recipe that is passed down.
How much baking powder do you use?

I’ve never made dumplings from scratch. I thought you needed shortening. Is it really just flour and chick stock? That sounds like something I could do!
Houstonmom:
Yeah, it’s just flour and stock – super simple! You can also find recipes out there that use baking powder to make the dumplings fluffier.
My grandmother fixes this almost everytime we go visit her and I didn’t realize until recently how easy and how inexpensive this recipe is (especially when then flour is almost free!) 🙂
Let me know if you try it and how it turns out!

That sounds delicious! I add 1 egg per cup of flour to my dumplings for added nutrition. We have a flock of chickens so this is a great way for us to use up our surplus.
