I am just about to head to the store to shop for my son's 2nd birthday party! We are havign chicken salad for the adults and PB and J for the kids. Doing books I bought through Scholastic for less than a dollar each for goody bags. Not going over the top, just borrowing a jumping house from a friend! Now if only the weatehr will cooperate!

We did my daughter's 7th birthday in May, and we got plastic lap trays at Michaels and the kids used stencils and painted them with paint markers. We used "daddy–read big" shirts for paint coverups and they all had a blast. The trays were on sale for 4.50 that week, so I spent 45$ for the 10 children in attendence, but I figured they would at least get used. Food was simple, we just did hotdogs, koolaid, and my sister made a cake, so my budget for that was easier, which made the craft not too bad. Kids had fun too!! 🙂

I save things we get free from events we attend all year (Mavs, Rangers games and fan fest, Celebrate Freedom, Taste of Dallas). Many of the events are free, too! Last year I made great goody bags for each of my sons "Sports Parties." They had mini basketballs, folders, pencils, baseball cards, and so much more. Best of all, it didn't cost me a dime. I also try to find cheap things on clearance all year long…pencils/pens, folders, notebooks, stickers, bouncy balls, etc. I typically pay $.10 – $.25 for these items. Target often has there dollar items for 3 or 4 for a dollar. This is a great find for b-day party fillers.
