I LOVE UPromise! Have saved over $1400.00 in 2 1/2 years, just in rebated $ back. We also accepted the offer for the Upromise World m/card, and 1% of EVERYTHING we charge goes on the UPromise rebate tally. Every 1/4 they send the accumulated $ (over $50) to a student loan that is already in exhistance! So you can use it to save or to pay what you may already owe! Or your kids stuff too! I did NOT get a 529 account, they seem to push that. There is a $20 per year fee, It is in most states NOT a Upromise company that you sign up with, they send you "off the official site". It has tax bebefits if you qualify, but if you are just starting out, I'd say SIGN UP FOR UPROMISE, register any credit or store card you can, and let the $ come in! (remember to pre-pay the anything you charge, use it like an account that you don't have to write checks for. Spend only what you pay for first! (IE: if you would write a check to pay $350 on your auto insurance, put it on the Upromise mastercard, and -bill pay- the $ to the credit card instead. This gives you 1% back into the accumulation of upromise $ rebated!

Upromise also has a toolbar you can download and it reminds you to use it on sites where you can earn cash back.
