Trouble with Printable Coupons?

I have received several comments recently about some grocery stores and national chain stores refusing to accept coupons printed from the internet.

If this has happened to you, here are a few things you can do:

1) Check to see if the store has a coupon policy posted on their website. If so, print it out and bring it with you when you go shopping so that you can show the cashier (or manager if need be) the corporate policy if a problem arises.

2) If a store does not have their coupon policy online, then you can email or call the store’s corporate customer service and ask them what their policy is. Then print out the email they send back, or write down the info you received from the phone call and bring that with you the next time you shop at the store.

3) It amazes me that some of the stores who say they will not accept internet coupons have internet coupons to print ON THE STORE WEBSITE! Two stores that came up in comments this past week (IGA and Albertsons) both have printable coupons that you can print directly from the store websites! I’m sure informing the manager of this will help to resolve any problems.

4) Program the number for corporate into your cell phone and call them from the store! You can find this number on the store website. The customer service rep. will many times talk to the manager directly and help to resolve the issue.

5) If you have an especially bad experience, make sure to file a complaint. When the manager at my local Walmart decided to tell his employees that they were not accepting internet coupons, I called and filed a complaint with Walmart corporate. I got a call from the manager at my local Walmart the next day saying that he was sorry for the misunderstanding and that they DO accept internet coupons!

What has been your experience in this area? Do you have a printable coupon story or a comment you would like to share?

I have trouble actually printing them. They get sent to my printer, but the printer spits out a blank piece of paper. Have you any troubleshooting ideas?

Hmm, I’m not sure what the problem might be. Lea Ann over at Mommy’s Wish List has written a great troubleshooting article on possible solutions for coupons that won’t print here: http://mommyswishlist.blogspot.com/2009/05/change-bricks-urls-to-print-on-your.html

    I hope that helps!

Online, printable Target coupons are absolutely the most difficult coupons to scan.

I have had a cashier tell me that if it does not scan, she cannot accept the coupon.

It really stinks when you are standing in line at Target and their coupon will not scan!

I have had trouble at Wal-Mart on one day, then go back the next with the same coupon with no trouble. I had the same experience with Kroger.
Brookshire’s always takes my coupons….no questions!

I kept having trouble with WalMart until I printed out there coupon policy that saids they do take internet coupons. The cashier took my paper and had a manager verify it and then came back and took my coupons. Target is still a hit or miss. I am always nervous about shopping at Target ,some days are fine and others I am made to feel like I am doing something wrong. And they all hate it when I bring in a stack of coupons (they have told me this). I dont get why managers and cashiers are so rude to people with coupons, They can do it to its not a big secret.

Yesterday, I had trouble when a CVS Store Manager coldly told me that they (CVS – not just their store) do not accept ANY Manufacturers Internet Coupons. I only had one and it even came directly from the manufacturer’s website. They did not even want to scan it. I told him I have never had a problem with ANY other CVS taking not them. He actually said ALL those managers and cashiers at ALL those other locations are not going by policy and he must be the only one following correct policy. I informed him that the CVS website ACTUALLY links you to such coupons to print out but he did not even care what I was saying. I called 1-800-SHOP-CVS today and they apologized to me because he was very wrong and said they would call the manager to set him straight on the policy and even called me back to let me know they had done that and also let the district manager know about the situation. The gal I spoke to was very very nice. She even offered to put $5.00 on my ExtraCare Card for my inconvenience. I received EXCELLENT customer service via phone today, too bad it was not the same at the store.

  7. Hi. I’ve had a problem at Walmart with Internet coupons. I’ve had problems with Internet coupons at Target. My solution is that I avoid going to those stores with coupons (and shopping there in general) unless there is a deal so terrific I can’t let it go by.
I think the expression that comes to mind regarding my strategy is “voting” with my feet as in leaving the store and not coming back.

Whenever I am mailed a free coupon, I bring the letter and envelope. Superfresh does not take free internet coupons and insist any free coupons are Internet coupons. Also, even writing their corporate office they refused to give me a written copy of their coupon policy and do not post it online— their response is, it is posted it at the customer service desk– that is a very poor way to operate in terms of customer service. They seem to have a never put it in writing you can take with you policy.

  9. I have a problem with one particular Walmart and I even talked with the manager. They have put up signs at each register saying they do not take internet coupons~the coupons are fake. I never called corporate, but I should have. I have at least 6 other Walmarts to choose from and none of them have this policy.

As far as printing coupons, sometimes firefox has a glitch so I usually use safari to print my coupons.
