I mentioned in September on the Surviving The Stores Facebook page that I was going to be reviewing the first FDA approved in-home laser hair removal system over the next several months and that that at the end we would have a giveaway for one!!
So I guess it’s time for an update! :)
The laser that I received is the Tria Hair Removal Laser and it really is as easy to use as they say it is. In fact, I can’t imagine it being easier! Now, they say that you can start seeing results with as little as two treatments, but I have done two treatments so far and I haven’t seen a difference at all.
But I’m thinking that’s because I’m apparently a complete wimp. I thought that I had a fairly high pain tolerance, you know with having 4 kids and all, but I couldn’t handle it on anything other than the lowest setting (a 1 out of a possible 5)!
My goal is to work up to a higher setting (I’ll try a 2 next time) and I’m going to take their recommendation to shave with a brand new razor blade before using the system. The first time I tried it I just completely disregarded the shaving instructions because I had shaved my legs the day before and I’m definitely not making that mistake again! Make sure you follow their suggestion to shave right before with a brand new razor to minimize the pain!
I’m really hoping that I will be able to work up to a higher setting soon because I’m really looking forward to not having to shave my legs ever again would love to get to that point sooner rather than later! :)
Another thing that I think I should point out is that it takes a long time. I’ve needed to carve out 30 minutes to an hour for each treatment. You know, as I type that out I’m thinking how 10 years ago I wouldn’t have said that 30 minutes to an hour was a long time. But now that I have 4 kids… yeah getting an hour to myself to do this is definitely a challenge!
From what I have read from other people who have used it is that once you get up to a higher setting the battery charge won’t last longer than 30 minutes so you’ll need to do one leg, charge it again, and then do the other.
Anyway, I’m excited about getting to try it out AND I’m excited that one of you guys will get to win one when I’m done!!
Feel free to ask any questions about it in the comment section below and I’ll do my best to answer them or at least point you in the right direction!

Would taking some tylonol or advil before hand maybe minimize the pain? Is it okay to use these in conjuction with laser treatment?
Oh that’s a good idea! I’ve also thought about putting some topical numbing cream on my legs beforehand, but I’m not sure how it would do since the laser goes all the way to the roots.
