I love magazines! One of my favorite things to do to relax is sit in the tub and browse through a copy of Real Simple or Woman’s Day. But what do you do when they start to pile up (like they have at my house)? Here are some ideas:
1) Sell them! I know that our Half Price Books buys used magazines (just cut out or black out your name and address). You can many times make $.50 – $.75 per magazine (which adds up quickly!) You also may want to check out Ebay. I’ve heard that used magazines will sell there as well.
2) Donate them! We had a garage sale a couple of months ago and a lady bought my whole stack of magazines to give to the ladies at her local nursing home. She said that they LOVE reading through the magazines that she brings up there. Our family has been wanting to get involved in ministering to the local seniors in the area so we decided to start saving up our magazines to bring to them. You can also see if you can donate them to your local library, elementary schools, doctors offices, hospitals, prisons, abused woman’s shelter (especially the kid magazines)… the list is endless!
3) Give them! Post your magazine loot on a Freecycle list and you will have them gone in no time!
4) Recycle them! Many Walmarts have recycling centers right in their parking lot. Our recycling center is at our local high school. You can go to Earth911 to find a recycling center in your area.
I hope that is helpful for you guys as you try to survive the clutter that can be brought on by so many free magazine offers!
If you need another magazine to add to the mix, you can get a free subscription to PLENTY magazine here (click on the little green guy).
