Target Trip 7/8 – LOTS of Kashi!

July 8, 2009 · 16 comments

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE Target? And how much I LOVE Kashi? Well, put the two together and I just go a little bit overboard. Okay, maybe “a little bit” is a bit of an understatement.

I hit Target early this afternoon with my friend Stephanie and got 34 boxes of cereal… yes, 34 boxes! And I almost bought more. In fact, I might go back for more! :) I really have no idea where I’m going to store all of this cereal, but we love it so much that I just couldn’t resist.

On top of the cereal, I got several boxes of Kashi cereal bars, granola bars, cookies, 4 Pictureka card games, 5 pizzas, several of the Eggo Bake Shop, 8 bags of veggies, small Dryer’s ice cream cartons (they were 19¢ each after the Target coupon), and 6 packages of the Bare by Solo plates. I had free product coupons for the Jennie-O turkey and the DiGiorno. By the way, the Jennie-O ground turkey was on price cut down to $2.99 at my store, so by using the $5 coupon that was available a couple of months ago, I got $2 in overage on that. The only item I got without a coupon was the Tom’s of Maine deodorant, because that’s what I use and it was a decent price.

The great thing about this trip is that the only coupons from the newspaper inserts that I used were the ones for the 4 trial size Banana Boat Sunscreens! All other coupons were ones that I printed online, or that I received in the mail (from an offer that I signed up for online).

So how much would all of this have cost regularly? $299.44

How much did I pay for it? $64.62!

That’s a savings of 78%!!

Even though I didn’t have enough $1.50/1 manufacturer coupons for the Kashi cereal, I figured it was worth it to stock up since they were $1.08 a piece with just the Target coupons! Like I said, we love Kashi cereal. :) (And no, I don’t get paid to say that.)

You can see all of the coupon matchups for everything that I got today HERE.

The Bare plates were not on sale at my Target, just the cups… and they were out!

I was at target today and tried to get the small ice cream cartons and they wouldn't accept the coupon. The cash register beeped and they said I didn't have the product. I pointed out that I DID have it and she said "it must be for the bigger cartons." I politely pointed out that the coupon doesn't specify a size. She seemed to not care, so I didn't purchase them.

On the Kashi Target coupons it says one per guest. Do they enforce that? Did you really have to go through the line 30 times?

Did you purchase everything in one transaction or multiple ones? I always worry that the cashier won't let me use several of the same Target coupon all in one transaction.

I was able to purchase everything in one transaction, but I am always more than willing to separate it all if they want me to.

When I go up to the cashier I say, "Hi! I have a WHOLE lot of coupons… do I need to separate all of this into separate tranactions?" And every single time they have said "Oh, that's ok, I can do it all in one."

In saying that, each time I am more than willing to separate it all… yes, do 30 transactions… if they say that I need to. But I've never had an instance where they have.

Suzette,

Your Target should have taken the coupon for the ice creams. I would recommend calling customer service while you are in line next time and they can get it straightened out. Customer service's number is: 1-800-440-0680

Did you have any problem with the coupons scanning? Neither my IPs nor the Target IPs scanned automatically and she had to put each coupon in manually. Although I didn't buy as much as you, I probably had 20 or more coupons.
