Great question! This is the email that Target Corporate sends out whenever someone emails them with a question about their coupon policy. I would recommend emailing them yourself and then printing out the email to take with you to the store. You can also call Target Corporate Customer Service (at the bottom of the email) right there in the store and they can talk to the manager and explain their coupon policy to them. :)

Here is the email:

Thanks for asking us about using coupons at Target. Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping with us, and it’s easy to use them at our stores. Because of the variety of coupons available to our guests, we do have some guidelines for how coupons can be redeemed at Target.

When accepting coupons, we use the following guidelines:

* We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued and manufacturer-issued.
* We’ll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
* We can’t give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in this case, we’re able to adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item.
* We can’t accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
* All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier while you’re checking out.

For questions about using a specific coupon, we encourage you to stop by Guest Service and ask to speak with the Guest Service Team Leader. They’ll do their best to help while you’re in the store. If you still have questions after speaking with them, please call our Guest Relations team at (800) 440-0680. Either way, we’re here to help!

I have tried to use coupons at my target twice, and they won’t take them. Walmart on the other hand has no problem and has been GREAT!!! Any suggestions???

Jami,

Are you having problems with them taking the Target coupons, or just printable coupons in general?

Are these at any Target, or just Super Targets?

Suzanne,

I am under the impression that if the items are at Target then they will work the same as Super Target. I always do the Target deals at Super Target, so I’m not 100% sure.

I have what may be a dumb question … What does SS and RP mean?

SS means “Smart Source” and RP means “Red Plum” – these are the different coupon inserts in the paper each week. You can learn more about couponing lingo in my post here:

Rachel,
Which Super Target do you go to and does each one set there own prices? I went to one last night and the Dove go fresh was $3.59 and the soy candles were $6 something each. Have you ever heard of the prices being different?

That’s the thing with Target and Walmart deals – sometimes they vary by region or even by store!

Not all of the Doves were $2.00 – only a select few, so they might have been out already.

I often find Target prices are different from store to store, and vary greatly from region to region. I live in MI and when I visit my IN relatives I always go stock up at Target where they have FAR better regular and sales prices.

How do you get gift cards from Target?

Susan,

When you buy the items that give the gift card, the gift card will automatically show up on the screen and then the cashier gives it to you right then. You can then use the gift card on the next transaction if you want to.
