I’m thrilled to be partnering with Ragú as a compensated brand representative to share this post with you guys.
Have you ever seen the movie Fiddler On The Roof?
It’s one of the ones that’s in my list of my top ten favorite movies of all time.
In one of the scenes in the movie the husband and the wife are arguing and things in the house are going crazy… but then the Sabbath dinner begins (for those who haven’t seen the movie, it’s about a Jewish family living in Russia in 1905).
The candles are lit, everyone sits down, prayers are said (sung), and dinner is shared all together.
During the Sabbath dinner scene while the prayers are being sung, you get a sequence of images of different families all over the town who are doing exactly the same thing at the same time.
Everyone all over the city has dropped everything that they were doing to sit down, thank God, and enjoy a meal together.
Every time I watch Fiddler On The Roof I think about that scene for days afterwards and how important it is to set aside time to sit and eat together as a family regularly, even if it’s not every night.
Things can get a little crazy from time to time with a family of 6 (okay, things are pretty much crazy ALL of the time!)
We are either getting school done, cleaning, going to sports activities, walking our new puppy (my goodness big dogs need to be walked A LOT!), or meeting with friends.
With the craziness of life, there aren’t a lot of opportunities to all sit down together as a family and talk.
Our desire is for mealtime, and especially dinner, to be more than just food. We want it to be a time to unwind from the day and talk about life, questions, fun things that we did that day, what we learned… as much as we can fit into that 30 minute to 1 hour window.
One of the biggest hurdles in having a family meal time is the time that it takes to prepare everything. Ragú is sharing ways to keep family mealtimes a priority with easy-to-create meals.
One of my favorite go-to easy meals is to put a large spaghetti squash in the oven to cook, saute some onions with ground beef, add in a jar of Organic Ragú Sauce and serve over the cooked spaghetti squash! It’s super easy and the whole family loves it.
Ragú actually has an entire section on their Facebook page devoted to easy recipes to make menu planning simple.
In addition to lots of great recipe ideas on their Facebook page, there’s also an opportunity to win a trip to Italy for a family of four!! Just click here to enter to win (super easy entry!) How fun would that be?!
