Surviving The Stores Meals With My Deals

Grab The Button!

Well, we love Waffles and we love Pizza, so when I saw this recipe bringing both together I just had to try it! It ended up being very very easy and we all LOVED it!

This would be a great meal to make with the deals going on right now with the Gold Medal Flour coupon!

Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:

1 3/4 cup flour (I used whole wheat flour and it was great!)
1 Tbsp. Baking Power
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. sugar or other sweetener
3 large eggs
1 3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. oil or butter
1 can of diced tomatoes
shredded cheese
Italian/pizza seasoning (I used TONS of basil in ours)
Pepperoni/sausage/whatever meat you have on hand

NOTE: You can use whatever waffle recipe you want to… I was planning on using a Yeast Waffle recipe, but it had to rise for an hour and half and when you start dinner at 6… well, we just went with a different recipe. :)

Directions:

Mix all of the waffle ingredients together well (up through the oil/butter).

Once it’s mixed well, add the rest of the ingredients and mix again.

Heat your waffle maker and pour a little over 1/2 cup of batter into it. I would recommend scraping the bottom of the bowl to get the tomatoes and meat that sink to the bottom.

Enjoy!!

This was such an easy recipe and was a hit with everyone!

Now it’s your turn! What kind of recipes did you come up with to use with your deals? Please link directly to your recipe below.

I also highly recommend heading over to $5 Dinners Bargain Meal Of The Week where she categorizes meals by different store deals!

This is something I will definitely be trying! How many waffles were you able to make with this recipe?

  3. Rach, this sounds so yummy! I wish I had some pepperonis! I may be able to use ground turkey, though. I think I’ll make some for supper!

I just wanted to say that I love you’re doing this series. So often we stock up on things and, still, some days I just stand in my pantry and look at everything and think, “ok… now what to do with it all?”

Great idea, really. Keep ‘em coming!

  5. I am so anxious to try this. My 7 y/o grandson just loves pizza but is casein intollerant so no dairy/cheese and has trouble with tomato sauce. Do you know how hard it is to get pizza made with no cheese or sauce???? What a terrific way to be able to make him his very own “special” pizza with things he can eat and regular ones for the rest of the family. I can hardly wait :)

  6. What did you eat on top of these??? Or did you just eat them plain?

    Very interesting recipe!

    • We ate them plain and loved them, but the recipe said that you could serve them with pesto or marinara/bruschetta sauce if you wanted to. Since we have little ones the “no sauce” worked out well. :)

@Surviving The Stores, Oh my kids are going to LOVE this. I have never seen a recipe like this and I am a recipe junkie. Thanks for a very unique post!

  7. We have lots of boxed waffle mixes from a deal…..do you think I could use that and add the pizza stuff?

    • Lana, I think that could be very sweet, esp in combination with the tomato. Maybe experiment with the smallest possible serving?

      • Thanks. I didn’t think of that. You’re probably right. I think I’ll use your way anyway, now that I think about it because my daughter is allergic to milk and eggs, so I can use your recipe and substitute rice milk, her egg replacement, and dairy free “butter.” When cooking, my hubby and I can’t tell the difference, so we use that stuff. Can’t wait to try it!
