I’m going to attempt to write this post without getting overly frustrated. I don’t even have a Kmart near me, but I am really upset at how Kmart is handling the $10/$20 Kmart coupon situation. It is perfectly okay for them to say they made a mistake and take the coupon off their website… or update the coupon with certain cities specified (which is what they did).
But it is NOT okay for them to tell all of you that the coupon is fraudulent and to make you feel like a criminal for trying to use it. A fraudulent coupon is one that a person (not the company itself) created and passed around the internet, or a coupon that was scanned or copied.
The $10/$20 Kmart coupon was a mistake on the company’s part, but it was NOT fraudulent. Please please do not think that you did anything wrong by trying to use it. Here’s why:
1. The coupon was posted DIRECTLY on Kmart’s website in pdf form, allowing for people to print it multiple times.
2. The original coupon specifically stated that it was valid at ALL Kmart locations.
Most Kmart stores (although I keep hearing about a few that are still accepting the coupon) are not accepting the coupon, and I’m seeing report after report of managers and cashiers being outright rude to customers who are attempting to use the coupon.
Know that you are not alone, and that if you tried to use the coupon that you did NOTHING wrong.
My hope is that Kmart and other companies will read this post (and others like it from other bloggers) and avoid situations like this in the future.
