Key Ring App
Have you guys heard of the Key Ring app?  I just got an email about it today and it looks pretty impressive!

The Key Ring app is available for both Android and iPhone users to put on their phones (and it should be out for Windows and Blackberry Smartphones soon).

You enter your loyalty card information for each store that you have a card for and then when you are in the checkout lane, you just pull out your phone and they scan the phone instead of searching through all of your cards for the right one.  Pretty cool!

My wallet is PACKED FULL with loyalty cards (I guess it shows I’m not very “loyal” huh?) so I’m ready to start using this app on my phone.

Oh, and it’s FREE too!!

You can get more information and watch a video of how it works over on the Key Ring App Website or their Facebook page.

If you are ready to download the app onto your phone, then you can get it from either the Android Market or the iTunes App Store.

This would be a great app if barcodes scanned at the checkout. Unfortunately Galaxy S2 will not scan so a bit pointless.

I did it without a screen protector. It is a great app. thank you!

I just got it and I haven't put everything in yet... good to know that it works for you, Katie... and I don't have a screen protector so maybe that will help. :)

if you have a screen cover on your phone screen, it is difficult to scan. drat!!

I use Keyring on my iPhone and it works great! No problems scanning yet!

I an app like this and LOVE it. Even if they can't scan it, it still shows the numbers and they can type them in.

hehehe, guess I may be a bit too organized when it comes to my loyalty cards, they are all in one place in wallet and alphabitized,

I was looking on their Facebook page and just saw that after you enter in all of your numbers, you can go log into your Key Ring App account and print out a sheet with all of your barcodes. Having the one sheet is definitely better than all of the cards and will get us through until all of the stores get the optical scanners (which will read through the glare).

My husband tried a similar app and clerks couldn't scan it :(

It's a great idea in theory, but one major problem. The screen on your phone won't scan at the checkout. I have an app with the same concept as this one you mention and I've tried using it twice at Brookshires. Both times they had to key in my card number. Would have been quicker if I just gave my phone number.

If it works, it will be one of the best apps anyone has ever developed!!

I wish they had this for the Palm Pre! :)
