Oh, I love this!!

Jen over at Balancing Beauty and Bedlam has created an inventory checklist for your spice cabinet!

I’m totally ashamed to say that I STILL have spices in my spice cabinet from 11 years ago when Ryan and I got married. That’s probably not good, right? They don’t smell weird or anything. :)

If you’re looking to keep better track of your spices, then you can print out this Pantry Spice Inventory Checklist and tape it to the inside of your spice cabinet (or wherever) to keep track of what you have and what you need.

I took inventory a few years ago. I keep wanting to do it again to see what I have.. need to collect. Thanks for the reminder.

  5. A few weeks ago, my daughter was playing in my mom’s spice and “dried goods” drawer. She pulled out a box of “Dream whip” that looked ancient. I looked closer, and realized that the EXP day was APRIL, 1960!!!!!!! Can you imagine how many times that little package of dream whip got packed up and moved with my parents?!?!?!

  6. @Judy LOL!!!

  7. I’ve been married 24 years. That’s all I’m going to say.

  8. I like to buy spices from central market … In baggies with name/date sticker… They tell me the spices are fresh – frequent replenishing… They’ve got a ton o spices!!!

  9. Whoa! Yeah, you made need one taped inside your spice cabinet. :)

  10. Heather says:

Wow judy sounds like my grandma!!! Thanks for the link

  11. I just threw some out that expired in 2002 :)

  12. Several years back I started using a permanent Sharpie marker and writing the date of purchase on the lid of each new spice I bought. That way when I dig to the back of the cupboard, I know just how old something is and can decide if it needs to be replaced. Yes, this started because I also had spices I’d received for wedding gifts 15+ years ago!!

  13. After reading this, I checked mine and sure found really old ones, exp 06. Never been open :-(

  14. This is too funny, I just this last weekend went and got rid of a bunch of spices and stuff that I have had probably 15 years. LOL

  15. I went online to look for a spice checklist.  Martha Stewart didn’t have one.  Several big-name cooking websites didn’t have one.  But YOU gave us a link to a great list.  I love it–it’s just what I’m looking for.  Thanks!
