If you have been active on Twitter lately, you might have seen that there is an Eat From The Pantry Challenge going on hosted by Life As Mom and Money Saving Mom. Several bloggers and non-bloggers alike have committed to eat as much from the pantry as they can this month.
Our family ate from the pantry/freezer a lot right before Christmas so I don’t have a huge food stockpile to go with, but I am going to try to do it as much as possible this month.
Many times we end up going out and buying food just because we think we need to, instead of taking inventory and finding something to make with what we have. The Eat From The Pantry Challenge is geared to help us learn to do just that! You can find more details about it on the Eat From The Pantry Facebook Page.
One of my favorite resources for a challenge like this is SuperCook.com!
At Super Cook you can put in all of the ingredients that you have on hand and it automatically comes up with TONS of recipes that you can make using those ingredients. It even gives suggestions on ingredients you could add to increase your possibilities.
So…. what did I make tonight for the Eat From The Pantry Challenge? I actually didn’t use Super Cook tonight, but I did come up with something from what I had on hand:
Pan Seared Chicken Breasts cooked in a small amount of butter with Marsala Wine covered in sautéed onions and a little cheese. Along with rice and boiled sweet potatoes with cinnamon on top. My whole family loved it and it was super easy! Personally, I love just about anything with sautéed onions and cheese.
What are some of the dishes you make when you are trying to get rid of items in your stockpile?
