Ryan and I have finally realized this past year (after 12 years) that we are both the most at peace in our house when there are very few things (if anything!) out on tables, counters, nightstands, bathroom sinks… and pretty much any surface or floor in the house. That means no keys/wallet on the counter, minimal furniture on the floors, and no knick-knacks on the fireplace mantle.
We don’t have unlimited storage space, so that means that we have to get rid of things to make this a possibility.
So YAY for realizing that that’s what we need… but y’all, it’s HARD. At least it is for me. Because I’m an “attacher”. I attach people, events, & memories to STUFF. It’s not that I don’t want the stuff gone, but it’s hard on my heart to let go of the stuff because I feel like I’m throwing away/giving away those people & the memories that go along with the things that I hold on to.
I’ve gotten better at donating things that we no longer need/want over the years, and my mindset has definitely changed since we’ve been working towards getting our possessions “RV Ready” (not that we will actually move into an RV for a year, but we’d like it to be an option if we ever have the opportunity!). But I still have a long way to go to achieving our clutter-free goal.
Some of you guys might know Dana White (aka Nony from A Slob Comes Clean) who has been a HUGE inspiration to me throughout my journey to get a handle on our household.
I got an email from her this past week letting me know that she had just put out a NEW ebook specifically on DECLUTTERING!! Woohoo – just what I needed!
I had already read through (and absolutely loved) her ebook 28 Days To Hope For Your Home, so I knew that I would want to read and implement her tips in her new book on decluttering.
I opened up the book and started reading and OH MY – I was motivated and ready to make some BIG changes before Dana had even gotten to section one!
Dana totally gets me. She knows my mindset and so much she writes is exactly how I’m thinking. I can’t think of any other cleaning/organizing/decluttering expert that I have ever read that I can identify with more. In fact, most of the cleaning/organizing/decluttering books that I have read have left me DISCOURAGED rather than ENCOURAGED! Not this one!!
Dana makes living a clutter-free life DOABLE for people who think like me. And I am so incredibly grateful to her for that!
Right now you can grab the eBook, Drowning In Clutter?, for just $3 TODAY (Jan 1st) and TOMORROW (Jan 2nd). If you are finding this post after the 2nd then it will be $4 through the end of January before it goes back up to its regular price.
Or, if you would prefer to get Drowning In Clutter? AND 28 Days To Hope For Your Home (I highly recommend both!) then it’s just $4 for the set through January 2nd!!
If you already have a handle on household chores and you have everything perfectly organized and simplified without any issues throwing things away, then these books probably won’t help you very much.
But for the rest of us? They are LIFESAVERS!!
