CVS and Walgreens Scenarios for 5/17 – 5/23

May

2009
Saturday

For both of these scenarios, I am starting with $0 in Extra Care Bucks (CVS) and $0 in Register Rewards (Walgreens) so that those who are new can see how to get started. Keep in mind that this is not the best week for either store, so you might want to consider getting started next week instead. But hopefully this post will help you to understand how it works.

CVS Scenario:

You can view all of the coupon matchups for this scenario HERE (as well as instructions for beginners).

Transaction #1:

Buy 6 Dry Idea deodorants @ $2.50 each
Use 6 $2/1 coupons (get friends/neighbors/family to print out coupons for you!)

Pay $3 out of pocket

Get back $6 in ECBs

Transaction #2:

Buy 4 Chef Boyardee – $5 total
Buy 2 David Sunflower Seeds – $2.50 total
Buy 1 Orville Redenbacher popcorn – $2.50
Use $1/4 Chef boyardee coupon
Use $1/2 Sunflower seeds coupon
Use $1/1 popcorn coupon

Pay with $6 in ECBs you received from Transaction #1

Pay $1 out of pocket

Get back $5 in ECBs

Transaction #3:

2 Kashi Cereals – $2.50 each
1 Dial 3 pack soap – $1.99
Use $1.50/2 Kashi coupon
Use 35¢/1 Dial coupon

Pay with $5 in ECBs you received from Transaction #2

Pay 14¢ out of pocket

Get back $1 ECB

Total paid out of pocket: $4.14

Total value of all of the above: $32

That would be a savings of 82%!

Plus, you would start out your CVS scenario $1 ahead next week (since you have a $1 ECB leftover!)

Walgreens Scenario:

You can view all of the coupon matchups for this scenario HERE (as well as instructions for beginners).

Remember, for this scenario I am starting it out like you have $0 in Register Rewards. If you are starting with Register Rewards from last week, then your out of pocket cost would be lower.

Use $1/1 coupon

Pay $4.99 out of pocket

Get $5 RRs back

Transaction #2:

Buy Colgate Visible White toothpaste – $4.99

Use B3G1 Mac & cheese coupon (will take off $1.59 if you scan it before the in-ad coupon)

Pay with $5 RRs from Transaction #1

Pay 71¢ – 96¢ out of pocket

Get $6 RRs back (a $5 RR and a $1 RR)

Transaction #3:

Buy TWO OFF! Clip-on Mosquito Protection – $8.99 each
Buy 2 cheap filler items (candy, pencil, school folders, etc… – school folders have been on clearance for 25¢ at my store)
Use $2/1 OFF! coupon
Use B1G1 coupon

Pay with $6 in RRs from Transaction #2

Pay 99¢ out of pocket + the cost of any filler items

Get back $3 in RRs to use for other things you need or to save for next week to make your out of pocket cost lower!

Total out of pocket: about $7.00 for $37.31 worth of products

Savings of 81%!

Plus, you have $3 in RRs leftover!
