Just in case you didn’t see the announcement today on Amazon’s home page, I wanted to let you guys know that if you have a PAID membership to Amazon Prime then you can get free video on demand movies and TV shows through Amazon Video On Demand!
Please note that it does NOT work for the free prime memberships through Amazon Mom or Amazon Prime for Students.
So… do I think it’s worth it?
|Cost:||As little as $7.99 for instant-streaming only or $9.99 for instant-streaming + 1 DVD out at a time||$79 per year which comes out to $6.58 per month|
|# of Movies/Shows:||20,000 - 25,000 to watch instantly|
More than 125,000 on DVD
|5,000 Movies & TV Shows|
|TV Steaming:||Wii, PS3, XBOX360, Internet-connected Blu-Ray players, select internet-connected TVs, iPhone and iPod devices, Windows Phone, Roku, TiVo, Playon.tv||XBOX 360, Select Blu-Ray players, select internet-connected TVs, Roku, TiVo, Playon.tv|
|Netflix Benefit:||You can get almost any movie or show out there on DVD|
|Amazon VOD Benefit:||Free 2-day shipping on most purchases from Amazon ($3.99 one-day shipping)|
Personally… I usually order at least $25 worth when I buy off Amazon so I get free standard shipping that way. And for our family, even though Netflix is a little more expensive, since we don’t have cable the benefits of Netflix outweigh the benefits of the Amazon VOD option for us.
If you are interested in Netflix, then you can try it out for a month for free!
What about you guys? Which one would you choose? Is there anything else that you see that could be added to the chart above?
